ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Welcome to the Inspirations site. I’m Chista and I am the author and photographer of the works you see on this site.

I am a passionate lover of beauty in whatever shape or form I may have the privilege of encountering. You could say that I have a special reverence for beautiful things; the arts, archaeological and historical sites, the environment, and all animals, great and small.

I have been an Information Technology professional for years and at times have found my life almost entirely overtaken by the demands of my career. This has left me immensely appreciative of personal time and for me the best way to spend my personal time is to surround myself with beauty. Nothing brings me more joy and stimulates my soul more profoundly than spending time with animals, in nature, and on travelling to new places or rediscovering places to which I’ve traveled before.

On reflection, some of the most memorable moments of my life, the kinds that have made deep and lasting impressions, were experienced when I was fully engrossed in spectacular natural or man-made surroundings, and as time has gone on, I am finding myself more and more protective of them. I am by no means a professional photographer, but I do enjoy taking snapshots of the incredible beauty that surrounds us. In fact, I take far more pictures than the average traveler. I suppose it would be fair to say that I am a preservationist at heart. This is perhaps why I am so fond of taking photos. It is an attempt to preserve precious moments in time, as I see them through my lens, and commit them to eternity.

One of my greatest passions is the preservation of the environment and the many unique and fragile habitats on our lovely planet, and the lives of millions of people, flora, and fauna that depend on them.

As I travel, I can clearly see the rapid changes, sometimes over incredibly short periods of time, that are being brought about due to human activities such as burning fossil fuels, deforestation, over-fishing, illegal poaching of wildlife, and many more economically-driven unsustainable behaviors that humans have adopted since the industrial revolution. Man-made Climate Change is rapidly changing the face of our planet and it is a very real possibility that we will soon forever lose, in our lifetime, some of the most treasured, important, and unique natural habitats, species, and even historic places to Climate Change.

We generally think about the negative impacts of Climate Change on human, animal, and plant communities. This is admittedly the most important and immediate impact to consider, however, natural habitats are not the only vulnerable things bearing the negative impacts of Climate Change. In fact, some of the most cherished man-made wonders of the world, such as the Pyramids of Giza, are being equally and rapidly effected. While the impact of Climate Change on the historic cultural wealth of the world may not be considered equal to the loss of life and habitat, one could argue that recognizing the far-reaching implications of Climate Change is an effort to save humanity’s identity in addition to its existence.

For my part, I have always tried to lead a sustainable life and, wherever possible, reduce my negative impact- my Carbon Footprint- on the environment, but the realities of Climate Change were in recent years giving me deeper concern and making me more resolute in my desire to participate more actively.

In April of this year, I had the privilege of becoming a Certified Climate Leader under the tutelage of former Vice President, Mr. Al Gore, as part of the Climate Reality Project Leadership Program. This has provided me with a platform to bring public awareness to the impacts of Climate Change in way of giving presentations, organizing community efforts, and much more. Which brings me to this website ...
